Boyer Learning Center is a California-based company that offers free SES tutoring to students in grades K-12 in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, and/or English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL).
- FREE tutoring is offered to students enrolled in schools that have been identified as Program Improvement Year 2 and beyond. This FREE after-school program is called SES (Supplemental Educational Services).
- If you don’t know if your child’s school is in Program Improvement, you may contact Boyer Learning Center at 1-800-853-5114 and someone will help you find out if your child’s school is in Program Improvement and qualifies for FREE tutoring.
- Student learning needs are assessed through a combination of placement tests, school assessment results, as well as parent/student and school input.
- An individualized learning plan is developed for each student with specific tutoring goals to address the areas where the student has fallen behind.
- Instruction is focused on teaching grade level standards and helping students learn grade level material.
Tutors have a passion for teaching and for helping each student accelerate learning and catch up in school. - Student Progress reports are given periodically to parents and to schools.
- Tutoring sessions may be one-on-one, in small leveled groups, and/or utilizing a combination of one-on-one and computer assisted instruction at designated centers.
- Tutoring sessions are generally 1 hr.- 2 hrs. long and are offered after school, on weekends and during the summer at selected locations. Flexible scheduling accommodates extra-curricular and family activities.
- Boyer Learning Center’s tutors are trained, college-educated professionals, many of them holding teaching credentials and advanced degrees.
All tutors undergo extensive background checks, are fingerprinted as well as tested and cleared for Tuberculosis. - FREE tutoring locations are throughout the state, mostly, at or close to Program Improvement schools.

Each year different schools are identified for FREE tutoring and parents are notified at the beginning of the school year. Many school districts have already notified parents about the 2011-2012 school year tutoring opportunities. Call your school to find out.
Tutoring center locations are posted AFTER the school district has contracted with Boyer Learning Center and other SES providers to offer tutoring during the 2011-2012 school year.
